Celebrating Big Ole through the Years

Four side-by-side photos show a large Viking statue—celebrating Big Ole through the years—in various settings, holding a spear and shield, wearing a horned helmet, red cape, and yellow tunic against urban or snowy, tree-filled backgrounds.

Big Ole was moved one more time in 2002, to his current location, on the south shore of Lake Agnes at the trail head of the Central Lakes Trail and Big Ole Park.

One of Ole’s helmet wings blew off in a strong wind storm in June 2014. The helmet was repaired in October 2014.

A cold morning in January 2015 provided this great view of a sundog as the sun came up over Ole.
