Here in Minnesota, it’s bound to happen sooner or later. Yep, I’m talking about winter. Sure, the Alexandria lakes area is AMAZING in the summer. Hundreds of lakes to enjoy, great bike trails along with countless other ways to get outside and be active. Well, I’m here to tell you that you can still be outside and active. Winter in Alexandria is AMAZING!
While it’s still early in the winter season, it’s never too early to plan your winter get-aways! Excellent lodging and restaurants make for great memories, even if it’s just a weekend away with friends. Make sure to add some shopping into that weekend too! It may get chilly outside, but the finds are always hot in our mall, retail stores and festive downtown stores. Don’t forget, Carlos Creek Winery (voted Best MN Winery) and Panther Distillery are open year around!
Many of us can’t wait! There is a winter wonderland just around the corner. Soon there will be cross country ski trails, ice fishing on the lakes and snowmobile trails. Hundreds, I mean HUNDREDS of miles of groomed snowmobile trails inhabit this area. While the snowmobile trails are not officially open yet, keep checking our blog and facebook page for constant updates and openings. However, one opening may be happening sooner than you expected. Andes Tower Ski Hills has a tentative opening date for the November 15th weekend! They have lifts and numerous slopes to ski, snowboard, tube and cross country ski. They will be open this weekend if conditions allow.
