Soon you will be able to pose for a selfie with some new art at 18 locations throughout the Alexandria Lakes Area. Saturday morning a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held as part of a final project by the Leadership Alexandria “Class of 2023.”
This project served as the capstone for the 30th Alexandria Leadership class. It aimed to enhance the community with local art created by local artists and funds raised from this project will be utilized for future community art installations. Attached is the official map showing locations of all 18 sculptures.

This project marks the culmination of the program fostered by the Alexandria Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce. The sculptures were the brainchild of Kasey Morris of the Leadership Class and the project was developed and coordinated with the rest of the class utilizing their various strengths. Local sculptor, Hans Gilsdorf, designed a steel sculpture that served as the “blank canvas” for artists to showcase their work. 18 steel panels, donated by 3M of Alexandria, were cut into the shape of an outboard motor by the Alexandria Area High School Cardinal Fab program and the students in the program. The sculptures were then to Protainer for sandblasting and then were delivered to TWF Industries for powdered coating. The Alexandria Art Guild selected the artists, which will reflect our local history of boating and the Chain of Lakes theme.

For any further inquiries about the sculptures, please contact the Alexandria Art Guild through their website..
Sculpture installation took place on Monday, June 24th. The sculptures will be attached to their cement bases by JLM Contracting (Jordan Miller). The bases were provided by Duininck Concrete.
