Oletoberfest Takes Place This Weekend

Good fun and a good fundraiser combine to celebrate our love to gather and our love for Big Ole.

Oletoberfest has become an annual event for Copper Trail Brewing Company. A spin off of the traditional Oktoberfest, this festival celebrates the spirit of the Viking statue a little over a block away from their front door. This year the event will once again serve as a fundraiser to help with some needed up keep and preservation for Big Ole. In collaboration with the 28-foot-tall statue’s owners, The Runestone Museum, Oletoberfest will hopefully bring in enough funds to help support the work.

All work and no play, that’s not Oletoberfest. The festivities begin on Friday afternoon at three o’clock with what’s called TAPpy Hour. At 4:00pm is one of my favorite events, the Oletoberfest .05K. It begins in Big Ole Park, at the feet of Big Ole, and after some good German music leading the way, ends in the taproom at Copper Trail Brewing Co, about a block away to the south.

There will be live music all three days, September 6th-8th. There is also a contest for Best Dressed “like Big Ole” and “Oktoberfest wear”, other activities for adults and kids, and plenty of good food. For more details on the full event, click on this link
