About Glacial Ridge Trail Scenic Byway
The Glacial Ridge Trail Scenic Byway winds through lakes, forests, farmland, and ridge-like terrain left behind by glacial melting, offering a peaceful and picturesque drive that’s ideal for exploration by car or motorcycle.
Stretching roughly 220–245 miles depending on the route chosen, the byway doesn’t follow a single start-to-finish line — instead it provides a network of roads that allow you to customize your adventure, stop at scenic overlooks, and visit attractions and parks along the way.
Natural highlights include glacial lakes and prairie remnants, while cultural and historical attractions dot the towns that line the route. Several Minnesota state parks are accessible from the byway — including Sibley, Monson Lake, Glacial Lakes, and Carlos State Parks — offering opportunities for hiking, birding, camping, and fishing in beautiful natural settings.
